Field tests this weekend were a resounding success!

The rifle is my own design. The stock, purchased from a lumber supply store, was cut from a giant slab of walnut, then rasped, sanded, dremel'ed and drilled to use. The brass plates were cut from an antique brass door kickplate, then drilled for the screw holes and smoothed. The copper pipes and fittings are all plumbing supplies, cut, drilled and sanded to fit. The muzzle is from a rain funnel feature I found on ebay and modified for the rifle. The shoulder strap is an old leather belt purchased at Goodwill. The crystals (two quartz for the breech section and a calcite one for the muzzle) were bought off ebay as well. Ebay was also the source for the trigger guard, which is a real antique from a hawkeye .50 cal centerfire rifle. The leds, three of them, are inside the copper pipes and have wide angle lenses for better dispersion. The leds, lenses, holders, constant current driver, and battery holder were all purchased as a custom kit from http://www.ledsupply.com. The trigger, which is really a small toggle switch, along with the wire and solder, was purchased from Radio Shack. The trilobite was one of the pins from the Girl Genius website (http://www.girlgeniusonline.com). I removed the pin back and attached t to the brass plate with epoxy. I used a drill, dremel, band saw, belt sander, wood rasp, and shop vise to make the rifle.

| IT'S ALIVE!!! A... okay, it's complete. |
[Aug. 28th, 2008|06:42 pm] |
The GTR-1 (gamma transitory ray, model one) is complete and has passed all laboratory tests and an initial military field test, where it was well received. It is currently under the control of a courier for transport to the primary public field testing facility. This should prove most interesting.
Photos and test data will be made available following the event. |

It almost has the shape of a chromosome or some meld of organic and geometric designs. |
